Imagine Faith Instead of Fear

"Your imagination is your preview of life's coming attractions." ~ Albert Einstein

Napoleon Hills said, “Fear is faith in reverse gear. Fear is a negative belief in something, and belief is the very foundation of faith. Faith is a positive mental attitude in action. Your mental attitude is the sum total of your thoughts at any given time.”

When we were children, we had no problem activating our wonderful gift of imagination. We could imagine anything. I remember when my family would purchase a large household item, like a new television or a washing machine. I was enthralled with the big box that it came in. That box became my fort, my playhouse, my spaceship, my doll house, you name it. And I had no shortage of ideas for what to use that box for. Unfortunately, we were talked out of using that magnificent gift. We had to grow up, be realistic, and get our heads out of the clouds.

But I have some amazing news for you. You still have that gift – yes, it is still a part of you, and you have the ability to activate it anytime you choose. And you want to know something else? You do activate it, quite frequently. The difference is instead of imagining what you do want, you imagine what you do not want, and thus creating a reality that mirrors your imagination. Instead of focusing on your dreams and intentions, you give excessive amounts of attention to your fears and worries. And guess what shows up in your life? You bet! More of your fears and worries.

Just for today, STOP, TAKE A BREATH, and ASK:

What am I giving most of my attention to right now?” Especially if you are not feeling well emotionally.

Remember, your thoughts precede your feelings; so if you are not feeling okay, then check in with what you are thinking about. You have the ability to choose a different thought; one that is more pleasant; thus making you feel better. Be proactive with your thoughts and your imagination. Use them to create the life you desire.

Season of Nonviolence - Day 10

Welcome to Day 10 of the Season of Nonviolence – 64 Days of peaceful wisdom honoring the lives and nonviolent principles of Mohandas Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Cesar Chavez.

Nonviolence begins with learning how to be less violent and more compassionate towards ourselves. We learn by building the courage to speak and act with respect, honor and reverence for our own being.

Eleanor Roosevelt has urged, "You must do the things that you think you cannot do." Practicing these 64 Ways will challenge you to do things that you think you cannot do.

Day 10: FAITH

When Cesar Chavez was organizing farm works in California, he challenged them to say, “Si, se puede” - yes, it is possible - when they didn’t know how they would overcome obstacles.  Today, say “Yes, it is possible” even if you don’t know how your goal will be realized.  Have faith - you will find a way.

Today:  I will say, “Yes, it is possible,” to every obstacle I meet.  I will write down three things I am having a challenge with and with each one write “It is possible for me to overcome this obstacle and be successful.”

Ask In Faith

I received this from The Daily Word and it really resonated with me. Thought I would share it.

Faith
I ask in faith and know that it is given.

There is no spiritual test I need to pass to receive what I desire. I do not need to beg or plead to God. I need only look inside myself, connect with Spirit and know with faith and gratitude that my needs are being met.

Through prayer I connect to Spirit within. I have faith that the wisest answer, the right and perfect situation and abundant blessings are forthcoming. I prepare the way and do any work that my inner guidance leads me to do. I then let go and allow everything to unfold. My life is unfolding just as it should, and I am exactly where I need to be.

My faith is strengthened as I pray and give thanks. I connect in faith to Spirit within and know that all is well.

Faith or Fear?

"Feed your faith and your fears will starve to death." ~ Author Unknown

Love this! Fear and faith cannot exist at the same time. If you are feeding one, then you are naturally starving the other. If you have faith, then you have no reason to fear. Simple, yes. Easy, eh!

So, which are you feeding?

Faith

Have faith. Every event we experience and every person we meet has been put in our path for a reason.

Most people tend to live in fear and anxiety because of uncertainty about the future. The present is the only moment you have; so think about the people and experiences in your immediate present. They have been put in your path for a reason.

Stop focusing all of your attention and energy on a future you do not know or on a past you cannot change. Plan your present moments and have faith!

Season of Nonviolence – Day 10

Welcome to Day 10 of the Season of Nonviolence – 64 Days of peaceful wisdom honoring the lives and nonviolent principles of Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Cesar Chavez.

Nonviolence begins with learning how to be less violent and more compassionate towards ourselves. We learn by building the courage to speak and act with respect, honor and reverence for our own being.

Day 10: FAITH

"All that I have seen teaches me to trust the Creator for all I have not seen." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Without faith in something greater than ourselves, we would have little motivation or grounds for believing in goodness. Humanity has a long history of violence, unimaginable cruelty and selfishness, yet there have always been lights within the darkness. Love is the most powerful path to world peace. Faith and love can overcome our challenges and save us from darkness and fear.

When Cesar Chavez was organizing farm workers, he challenged them to say, "Si, se puede" (yes, it is possible) when they didn't know how they would overcome obstacles. Today say, "yes, it is possible," even if you don't know how your goal will be realized. Have faith, and say "it is possible” until you find, or are shown, a way.

What do you have faith in? Journal about or contemplate where you place your faith. Is it based in love or fear?

Entrepreneur Failure or Faith?

"The only time you don't fail is the last time you try anything - and it works." ~ William Strong

Two New York Westchester County 13-year-old boys had an idea. They would sell baked goods in a neighborhood park on the weekends and in a few years earn enough money to open a restaurant. Great idea, right? The boys, Andrew DeMarchis and Kevin Graff, who are students at Chappaqua’s Seven Bridges Middle School, set up shop and made $120 on their first day.

Being the innovative entrepreneurs they are, the boys took half of their earnings and invested in a cart and water and Gatorade to add to their offerings. On their second day, the police arrived to shut them down. Their offense? Operating without a license. A town councilman named Michael Wolfensohn came upon the sale and called the cops on the boys for operating without a license.

What was a frightening experience for those two boys and an outrage to the parents is a lesson in failure for all of us. Did those boys fail? No, and why? Although their plan was flawed – they neglected to check about permits and licenses – they did not fail. They had faith in their plan and in their dreams.

If you are 13 years old and your dreams get the attention of a town councilman, then you know you are on to something big!

To Andrew and Kevin – never stop believing in the power of your dreams. Keep the faith and in ten years or so, I want to stop by your restaurant and say well done!

More Faith in Your Fear?

“Fear is faith that it won't work out.” ~ Sister Mary Tricky

Are you living in fear or living in faith? Even if you think you are not a religious person, I am speaking of the faith with a small f; and everyone has faith in something. Most of you have more faith in your fear than you do in your faith. If this is confusing, think about what you do have faith in. You have faith that when you walk out of your home, you will get to your destination. You usually don’t question whether or not you will get to where you want to go – you just go!

This works because you don’t place any drama around it; you simply believe you will get to your destination, especially if you are determined to get there. This ought to go for your dreams as well. Your dreams are someplace you want to get to. But you place more faith in your fear than in your dreams. Make the conscious choice to put your faith in your dreams and don’t allow fear to stop you from living your dreams.

Visualize Your Fears Away

"You block your dream when you allow your fear to grow bigger than your faith." ~ Mary Manin Morrissey

In this brand new year of only 10 days old, I know you are not already letting fear get the best of you. Please do not allow your fear to get bigger than your dream. If fear is creeping up a little too much, then it’s time to have a conversation with this fear of yours. Simply ask it what does it want from you? Remember, fear is not the enemy; it is there to protect you from harm. When you step into new dreams and intentions, your body and mind have never been there before. So, fear comes in to make sure you will remain safe. This is why creative visualization can be so helpful.

Write down your dreams and desires in as much detail as you can. Writing engages both hemispheres of the brain and it is said that writing is the doing part of thinking. Then, visualize this in your mind as if you were watching a movie. Picture the entire scene: what you are wearing, who is there with you, what is being said, and especially how are you feeling. That feeling is the key; live in that feeling. When you are living in your feelings of joy, peace, passion, or the like, fear has no foothold on your dream.

You were gifted with an incredible imagination. You used it when you were a child, then you bought into the belief that you had to grow up and be realistic. So, how’s that working for you? You still have the imagination. Take it out every once and a while and use it. You will be amazed at what you can manifest in your life.

Shifting Fear to Faith

"The closer we get to uncovering ourselves, the more difficult it becomes to face the truth. Sooner or later we stop running, out of sheer exhaustion and desperation, and turn around to face our image. The pain that we go through during this revelation is negligible compared to the state of grace that we enter into when we have finally moved on." ~ Dr. Christiane Northrup

Remember, fear is a mechanism to alert you of an upcoming change. It simply tells your mind that this is something new and tread with caution. There is some level of fear in all things unknown, but the truth is, everything is unknown until we know it! So, have faith to know more than you know now. Get it?

Walk through the fear with faith,

Is It Fear or Faith?

"You block your dream when you allow your fear to grow bigger than your faith." ~ Mary Manin Morrissey

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us, it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” ~ From A Return to Love by Marianne Williamson, page 191

Believe in the faith of your dreams and not the fear of them.

Making Choices: Fear or Faith?

“It’s easy to forget that the circumstances of our day-to-day lives are the results of decisions we made yesterday, last month, and last year. We don’t wind up thousands of dollars in debt because of one extravagant purchase, nor do we gain thirty pounds as a result of one decadent dinner. And our relationships certainly don’t end overnight because of a single heated argument. We are where we are because of the decisions we make every day. If we want to better understand how we have created our present-day reality, all we need to do is look at the choices we made and continue to make along the way.”

Every important choice we make is being guided by one of two places: either it is an act of faith or it is an act of fear. Faith opens the door to a new future… while fear keeps us rooted in the past.”

From The Right Questions: Ten Essential Questions to Guide You to an Extraordinary Life by Debbie Ford.

Just for today, think about the choices you are about to make. STOP, TAKE A BREATH, and ASK:

"Am I making this choice based on faith or is it based on fear?"

Choose wisely,
Coach Carolyn
