Be A Cheerful Giver

Giving comes before Receiving... both in the alphabet and in life. You can have everything you’ve ever wanted — business and career success as well as financial prowess — if you give enough people what it is that they want too. Figure out that formula, and you’ll always prosper.

This reminds me of one of my favorite prayers which says "that it is in giving that we receive". This is so true. Never have I received so much as when I willingly and purposefully give to others.

When was the last time you gave from the heart – not expecting anything in return? 

If the answer is today, then keep it up! 

If the answer is not lately, then what are you waiting for?

Just for today, be a cheerful giver and reap the benefits!

It Is In Giving That We Receive

One of my favorite prayers says that it is in giving that we receive. I was always taught to give, give, give and never take. After all, I am a caregiver. I did not know how to receive. When someone would offer me a gift, I would graciously and stoically refuse. Then I was admonished, when you give, don’t you feel good? Yes, I answered. So, why are you depriving someone else that same feeling? Yikes!

I discovered that in my constant giving, I was also being selfish in not allowing others to give back to me.

When I learned that it was in giving that we received, I quickly shifted my consciousness and became not just a cheerful giver, but also a cheerful receiver!

Give the best of yourself, not just the leftovers!

The Law of Receiving

This week, we are looking at Dr. Raymond Holliwell’s Working With The Law: 11 Truth Principles for Successful Living.

“He who seeks the Father, with “getting” as his objective, does not seek Him in trueness of spirit….

“In a state of limited understanding, we reason what we must get before we can give, and then we turn and walk in the same mental rut as before by reasoning that we must give before we can get: but in our lack of understanding, we continue to leave the “getting” idea foremost in out thought and we shut out the spirit of giving.”

This law is about reciprocity – it is in giving that we receive. It is time we stop focusing on being go-getters and become “go-givers”. I loved the movie, Pay It Forward. It spoke to unconditional giving and no ego or judgment; almost a utopian existence.
