Season of Nonviolence - Day 31

Welcome to Day 31 of the Season of Nonviolence – 64 Days of peaceful wisdom honoring the lives and nonviolent principles of Mohandas Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Cesar Chavez.

Nonviolence begins with learning how to be less violent and more compassionate towards ourselves. We learn by building the courage to speak and act with respect, honor and reverence for our own being.

Eleanor Roosevelt has urged, "You must do the things that you think you cannot do." Practicing these 64 Ways will challenge you to do things that you think you cannot do.

Day 31: PRAISE

Appreciation helps people to grow.  Offer praise to the people you encounter today for their personal qualities, achievements or helpful service. Telling someone what you appreciate about them is paramount in nonviolent communication.

Praise is important for ourselves, too.  Louise Hay says “Praise yourself as much as you can … The love in our lives begins with us … Loving yourself will help heal this planet.”  Peace in our world begins with each and every one of us.

Today:  I will give sincere praise to at least three people today for their personal qualities, achievements, or helpful service, and then to myself.   I will journal about the experience and feelings of each encounter.

The Law of Increase

When someone praises you for your efforts, you feel like expanding and doing better, trying harder to be more perfect.” ~ Raymond Holliwell

When we are praised or praise ourselves there is a physical response within our bodies. Doctors tell us that the cells of our body respond to the Law. They seem to know and expand in strength, in capacity, and even in intelligence. Of course, we know that it is the mind working through every cell that causes the expansion.” ~ From Working With the Law

Know how you feel when you are praised or honored in some way? Feels good, doesn’t it? Not only do your cells expand, but so does your smile! Think about that feeling and pass that feeling on to another.

Help others expand… without the carbs!

Praise Goes A Long Way

This video really spoke to me because of the simplicity of it. When was the last time you praised your spouse for being a great spouse? Or your children for doing their chores or their homework?

When was the last time you sent appreciation someone's way? When my beloved died, so many people said so many wonderful things about him. He would have loved to have heard them as well, while he was alive. Don't wait to tell someone you appreciate them, because the next chance you get may be when they are unable to truly hear it.

I so appreciate all of you, dear readers!
