What Gives You Pause?

There are moments in your life that give you pause. And they are meant to. Life is lived as we choose to live it; yet some forget to choose to live… until something shifts.

Ric Elias, CEO of a marketing services company, had a front-row seat on Flight 1549, the plane that crash-landed in the Hudson River in New York in January 2009. What went through his mind as the doomed plane went down? At TED, he tells his story publicly for the first time.

Child-ish Thinking

This really got me thinking. And remember, we need to think new thoughts. Twelve-year-old child prodigy Adora Svitak does just that. Adora says the world needs "childish" thinking: bold ideas, wild creativity and especially optimism. Kids' big dreams deserve high expectations, she says, starting with grownups' willingness to learn from children as much as to teach. Listen to this grown up advise from a child's perspective.
