Take A Lesson From Edison

EDISON FAILED 10,000 TIMES BEFORE PERFECTING THE INCANDESCENT ELECTRIC LIGHTBULB.

DON’T WORRY IF YOU FAIL ONCE.

Arguably America’s greatest inventor, Thomas Edison had an extraordinarily positive perception of life that greatly enhanced his ability as an inventory. When others might have been hopelessly discouraged after failing thousands of times in an attempt to develop an electric light, the great Edison simply viewed each unsuccessful experiment as the elimination of a solution that wouldn’t work, thereby moving him that much closer to a successful solution. We could all take a lesson from Edison.

Stories abound about inventors who quit trying and gave up too soon or miners who struck gold just a few feet beyond where someone else quit digging. There are few obstacles in life that will not succumb to consistent, sustained, intelligent, positive action. When you are discouraged after you’ve failed at something, remember Edison’s 10,000 failures before he arrived at the solution that forever changed the world.

Your Dose of Vitamin C - Be Consistent

Today’s dose of Vitamin C is “Be Consistent.”

Being consistent means having stick-to-it-ness; not giving up before the miracle and staying the divine course. There is power in sticking with something – it gives you a feeling of accomplishment and determination. After accomplishing the task, you feel empowered to take on the next. This creates momentum and rhythm which is what we all need in life. Once we have momentum and rhythm, then nothing can stop us; and we can stop living our lives in fits and starts.

We had some moments, but we didn't have enough consistent moments.” ~ Doug Bruno

Your daily affirmation: “Today, I choose to be consistent!”

Mind Control for Manifesting Peace

"Eventually, meditation will make our mind calm, clear, and as concentrated as a laser which we can focus at will. This capacity of one-pointed attention is the essence of genius. When we have this mastery over attention in everything we do, we have a genius for life itself: unshakable security, clear judgment, and deep personal relationships." ~ Eknath Easwaran

If the thought of meditating makes you cringe, then re-define the way you do meditation. Personally, I could never sit still on my own to meditate. I would squirm, fidget, itch, and forget about my mind. There would be a full length feature film of my past, present and future.

I truly wanted to meditate; I wanted to have that stillness and that moment of inner peace. So, I determined to see this through. I can now meditate for an hour at a time ~ still wanting more time. What was the catalyst to change?

Firstly, I made the decision to meditate. I could either choose to meditate or choose not to meditate.

Secondly, I changed my thoughts about meditation. It was no longer this big thing that I could not do. I simply did it five minutes at a time, with music or a guided imagery. Five minutes became ten minutes which became twenty minutes, finally moving to sixty minutes. There are many guided meditations from five minutes to sixty minutes. So seek out what would help you. And be consistent.

Train your brain for inner peace,

Marrying Action with Consistency

"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit." ~ Aristotle

One of my mantras for this year has been, BE CONSISTENT. I write it every day in my daily planner, in my journal, and in my weekly SWOT Analysis. And know what? It is working! I am being consistent.

I have always been of the ilk that will try something for about a week, then decide that it just isn’t working for me, or something will distract me from continuing. Of course, there have been things that I have been consistent with, such as showering and brushing my teeth. Yet, I tend to overlook those things and chalk them up to necessities of life. My spiritual and emotional well being are also necessities of life. They are something more ~ they contribute to my quality of life. I may not offend anyone if I decide not to meditate, yet, in the end it does affect my quality of life, which offends me.

One key to being consistent: be consistent with one new task at a time, and do it for 30 days straight. Then add on one new task for 30 days. If you happen to miss one day, please do not beat yourself up. Simply begin again. Yes, as if from Day One. Trust me, it doesn’t work the other way. I have tried all of the shortcuts. They do not work!

Personally, I am astonished at my level of consistency with certain tasks ~ this blog, for example. I would post and feel good about posting. Then, I wouldn’t feeeeeeel like it. So, I wouldn’t post. What did it get me? A stagnant blog!

Develop a plan to be consistent.
*Decide what you want to do.
*Create a plan to do it.
*Write down the steps in your planner, or somewhere you tend to look... consistently. If you write it down, you have more incentive to complete it than if you simply try to remember to do it. Trust me on this as well. Remember, I was the master of delay, distraction, forgetting, and excuses. Now, I am Sister Consistency!

Have I arrived? Only if I am consistent…

Be Consistent ~ Go 10-5-1

Okay, purposeful people, we are into the second month of the year and this is a check-in. How are you doing? Are you stepping into and living your intentions? Are you feeling those dreams? Are you a manifestation magnate? Well, if you answered YES, I absolutely applaud you. If you answered NO, well… what’s up with that? What are you doing? What are you not doing? Are you feeling? Are you being consistent? Do you have the nutritious support people?

I must tell you. I was one of those people who only manifested when it was perfect, when the weather was good, when I finished this or that or something else. Blah, blah, blah! Enough! One of my 2009 mantras is: BE CONSISTENT! I have started my 10-5-1 system. It’s my practice to be and stay consistent.

I write out 10 things I will do everyday consistently until they become a habit. Don’t say you can’t do this because you do it anyway; you just don’t write down that you brush your teeth, you shower, you get dressed, you eat…. But you do them, don’t you? Uh-huh. So, a few of my 10 things are to meditate, to journal and mindmap, to do morning, evening and night prayer, and to do my breathwork. Yes, I do these things, but not consistently. This is the key: CONSISTENCY; and to help me stay consistent, I write them out everyday in my journal. Sometimes I would skip a day because I was tired. Well, hoity-toi! Who cares! I am a manifestation magnate and to be a manifestation magnate I must be consistent. So there!

I write out the 5 things I will do consistently each and every week. Two of my main weekly intentions are to attend an online teleseminar and a live networking event every week. This keeps me connected, focused and it re-energizes me to do what I need to do. It also allows me to generate new opportunities. Again, writing them down every week creates that shift in mindset moving me from a wimpy perfectionist to a JUST DO IT manifestation magnate!

Each and every day I write out my 1 main 90-day intention. Why a 90-day intention? Because my coach said so and he’s a multi-millionaire. Hey, I may be a perfectionist, but I ain’t stupid! And yes, I write it down everyday. I also have it on a laminated card tucked into my daily planner and I read that card several times a day. I nearly fell off my chair today screaming because it is working! This stuff really works! How do I know? The multi-millionaire coach, remember? If I’m lying, I’m flying!

So, it is month two and still time for you to put some systems into place to re-define your 2009. When you do, be what? Be what? I can’t hear you! BE CONSISTENT!

Here's to your consistent prosperity!
