Vitamin O is for Open-Minded

Do not follow where the path may lead. Go, instead, where there is no path and leave a trail.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

We live in a society where conformity is the norm. We must look, behave, dress, and live like the masses. Well, that’s just crap! We are made wonderfully and uniquely as Divine expressions.

Want to know about conformity? Check out this Twilight Zone episode, The Eye of the Beholder. Pretty freaky! I think I will live out my uniqueness because that’s what is the most beautiful! How about you?

Just for today, be open-minded and be unique self!

Be sure to watch all three parts - only 30 minutes, but eye opening. Part 3 will rock you world!

Vitamin N is for Neighbor

“While the spirit of neighborliness was important on the frontier because neighbors were so few, it is even more important now because our neighbors are so many.” ~ Lady Bird Johnson

This was quite unexpected, I dare say. But as the former first lady expresses so well, today we have so many neighbors and we are not being neighborly. I won’t even begin to speak on the whole immigration issue. We must see others as we would wish to be seen ourselves – as other, not as object.

Just for today, be neighborly!

Vitamin M is for Miracle

“As we become purer channels for God's light, we develop an appetite for the sweetness that is possible in this world. A miracle worker is not geared toward fighting the world that is, but toward creating the world that could be.” ~ Marianne Williamson

I often hear women say they never receive a miracle. Well, are you a miracle worker to others? When you can give the gift of light, love and laughter, then you have just giving a miracle and received one as well. It is in giving that we receive…

Just for today, be the miracle you wish to see!

Vitamin L is for Love!

A baby is born with a need to be loved – and never outgrows it.” ~ Frank Howard Clark

Okay, you knew that was coming! Everyone has at least one thing in common (except dying and making choices) and that is the need to love and be loved. As the prayer goes, it is in loving that we are loved.

Just for today, be loving!

Vitamin K is for Kindness

Today I bent the truth to be kind, and I have no regret, for I am far surer of what is kind than I am of what is true.” ~ Robert Brault

What an interesting quote! I believe it’s true for most of us – it’s easier to be kind than truthful. Just think about it: your dearest friend is wearing the most hideous outfit; and she asks you if you like it. So, what do you say? Do you opt for kindness or honesty? Just asking…

Just for today, be kind!

Vitamin J is for Joyful

Joy is the feeling of grinning inside.” ~ Melba Colgrove

Like happiness, you must make up your mind to be joyful. Joy is a bit different from happiness as happiness is usually dependent on external circumstances; while joy is that deep inward delight. It doesn’t matter what the circumstances are, you can still be joyful.

Just for today, be joyful!

Vitamin I is for Imagination

Limitations live only in our minds. But if we use our imaginations, our possibilities become limitless.” ~ Jamie Paolinetti

Totally love this one! This is one of our six innate spiritual faculties. We used it as children, then we somehow got talked out of using it. We became practical, realistic – boring!

Just for today, be imaginative!

Vitamin H is for Happy!

Even if happiness forgets you a little bit, never completely forget about it.” ~ Jacques PrĂ©vert

If you want to be happy, be.” ~ Leo Tolstoy

Happiness is a choice. Stop looking outside for someone or something else to make you happy. Happiness is an inside job.

Just for today, decide to be happy!

20 July 2010

Vitamin G is for Grateful

Be grateful for the home you have, knowing that at this moment, all you have is all you need.” ~ Sarah Ban Breathnach

Okay, you knew this was coming, didn’t you? So what else is there left to say? Just be grateful!

Vitamin F is for FUN!

People rarely succeed unless they have fun in what they are doing.” ~ Dale Carnegie

Now this is right up my alley! I am about having fun! Now, I hear some of you serious types saying we have to work, we have to earn a living, or we have to take care of business. I am not saying we don’t, but what I am saying is we can have fun while doing it. So we don’t work…we create; we don’t earn a living…we innovate and the money flows. We don’t take care of business, we have fun and business will take care of us!

Listen to what Mr. Carnegie said.

Just for today, have FUN!

Vitamin E is for Empathy

Anyone who has experienced a certain amount of loss in their life has empathy for those who have experienced loss.” ~ Anderson Cooper

I think it is unfortunate that we were never taught empathy in school. We must wait until we enter the school of adversity and grief before we learn about being empathetic to another.

Whereas sympathy means to care and offer support; empathy goes deeper. It means really feeing the emotions of the other; literally feeling what it is like to walk in their shoes.

Just for today, feel for another and be empathetic!

Vitamin D is for Decisive

But the cure for most obstacles is, Be decisive.” ~ George Weinberg

Sometimes it is difficult to make a decision. But not making a decision is also a decision. When you do not make a deliberate decision, then life throws you whatever it wants. Once again, you end up in victim mode.

Just for today, be decisive!

Vitamin C is for Conscious

“A life lived of choice is a life of conscious action. A life lived of chance is a life of unconscious creation.” ~ Neale Donald Walsch

Most of our lives are lived on autopilot; either very routine or very random. Start living your life consciously and intentionally. When you do, you can manifest whatever you desire; and not be a victim of circumstances.

So just for today, be conscious!
Coach Carolyn

Vitamin B is for Broken

God breaks the heart again and again and again until it stays open.” ~ Hazrat Inayat Kahn

This is one of my favorite quotes. It speaks of empathy in the deepest sense. When our hearts are broken open, we can deeply feel for another. When our hearts are closed, it is impossible to feel for another.

Just for today, stay broken!
Coach Carolyn

Vitamin A is for Appreciate!

“Appreciation is the highest form of prayer, for it acknowledges the presence of good wherever you shine the light of your thankful thoughts.” ~ Alan Cohen

Are you hating or appreciating?

Don't wait until it is too late to tell someone you appreciate them. Just tell them!

Just for today, be an appreciator!
Coach Carolyn

Friday’s Purposeful Question

“Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is to live everything. Live the questions.” ~ Rainer Maria Rilke

"It takes courage to grow up and turn out to be who you really are." ~ e. e. cummings

“Who are you becoming?”

"The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing." ~ Albert Einstein

Have a fabulous weekend! I know I will!

Decide to Be Happy

Just for today, make the decision to be happy.

How? Change your focus. Focus is power.

If you focus on what's wrong, you will find it everywhere.

If you focus on what's right, you will find it everywhere!

Focus on what's working in your life.
Focus on how far you have come.
Focus on your ability to think, feel and attract.
Focus on someone or something you love.

So, just for today, deliberately focus on something or someone that makes you feel good.

And have a stellar weekend!
Coach Carolyn

Why Worry?

“Worry is like a rocking chair – it gives you something to do but it doesn’t get you anywhere.” ~ Author unknown

STOP, TAKE A BREATH, and ASK:
  • What do you tend to worry about?
  • What does worrying do for you?
  • What's the benefit of worrying?

When I look back on all these worries, I remember the story of the old man who said on his deathbed that he had had a lot of trouble in his life, most of which had never happened.” ~ Winston Churchill

“There is a great difference between worry and concern. A worried person sees a problem, and a concerned person solves a problem.” ~ Harold Stephens
