The Fear of Failure

"You block your dream when you allow your fear to grow bigger than your faith. " ~ Mary Manin Morrissey

So often, we get fear and failure mixed up. When we give into the fear, we freeze and then we label ourselves a failure. But you are not a failure until you determine yourself to be one.

Remember, when you begin a brand new task or assignment, there is bound to be some fear because you are embarking in unfamiliar territory. This does not make you a failure, this just makes you human. It is natural to feel the fear; that is why you have a fear mechanism – to protect you from the unfamiliar.

When you are moving into unfamiliar territory, first know that your fear will rise up to alert you. Then, STOP, TAKE A BREATH, and ASK:

“Am I doing this because I really want to?”
“How will doing this get me closer to my heart’s desire?”
“What is the worse that could happen?”

Then, take a few more deep breaths, and go for it! Have faith that when you leap, the net will appear!
