Day 3 of Rumi Wisdom

“Sell your cleverness and buy bewilderment.”

I love this and it reminds me to not take things so seriously and embrace my inner child. Children live in a world of bewilderment; everything fascinates and excites them. They have no hang ups about letting out a joyful squeal when they feel like it.

As adults, we grew up and traded in our bewilderment for cleverness. Not a great trade, in my humble opinion. In the world of bewilderment there is imagination, intuition, creativity – all of which we were born with. We left that baggage behind and chose to pick up the baggage of shame, guilt, fear and anxiety. Again, not a great trade.

So, just for today, live in bewilderment!
